A quick apology...
I realized recently that I haven't been responding to comments on the site -- that I respond to them via email, and had been doing so for some time, thinking it was the "polite" thing to do.
Then I thought about how much I enjoy going back to blogs that have "discussions" going in their comments sections. And realized that I wasn't fostering that kind of discourse here.
So, my apologies to everyone who's ever come back to see what the answer to a question in the comments was. From now on, I'll be responding to posts here on Gastronomie, instead of via email.

Yeah, what you up to? Blogs have such a one way communication situation, Comments is all we have. I would love to have a little one or two subject forum included. JUST SOME DARNED DISCORSE MAN !!!

la de dah! what fun.
biggles always starts the best comment conversations on my blog. I get loads of search hits coming my way just because of the 'how to build a tandoor' information he left on one of my Indian week posts.
I think it is nice to respond to coments publicly - i always try to but i don't always have time to keep up either, especially when people comment on non current posts.
Blogger doesn't have the email response functionality so I never even considered doing it that way. And to think, all the time, I thought you were sending me emails instead of responding to the comment, just because you were my friend.

It is kind of funny that a blogger blogger probably wouldn't even consider the email method seeing as we just don't have that email address information from our commentors.
I think it is great that the conversations go on in the comments section where everyone can see it. I think that is the power that blogs have over other web sites
