New KQED article is up (and the reveal)
My latest piece for KQED's Bay Area Bites is up. This time, I write about one of my very favorite Oakland institutions, and my favorite way to enjoy it.

Well, I can't believe no one guessed it--though Sam was thinking along the right track.
That there is an old-fashioned drying/curing rack for cigars. Those cigars you see were rolled by this guy:
He works at Columbia, a restaurant-gift shop in Florida's Ybor City. Columbia is regarded as one of the finest Cuban restaurants in Florida, and it's been in the same family for five generations.
His cigars are beautiful, and perfect. Take a look:
Check in tomorrow to hear about my meal at Columbia.

Aww - I think I was close enough.
I have impressed myself. I really didn't have a clue, it looked cigarish to me but I knew you'd been to Florida, not Cuba!
Now you could visit my blog today and have a guess at my question of the day...
did you have a cigar?
are you allowed to smoke inside in FLorida?

Sam - There are lots of restaurants in FL which do still allow smoking inside, yes. Planning a vaca?
I do love a good cigar from time to time, and only when I'm with someone who only smokes good ones and is willing to share. These include my dad, as well as my old boss Todd, who was plenty generous with his stogies, and even brought them to sales retreats!
Keiko - It was incredibly interesting. Would you believe that Columbia seats 1600 people?? I was floored to learn that. It doesn't feel like it, either.
