Why I've been slow this week

Crw_7053

You guys know that we have two French Bulldogs, Stella & Bogart. We love this breed almost fanatically, so we really try to give back to the community as much as we can. That includes fostering and volunteering for the French Bulldog Rescue Network.

Well, this past week, I picked up a Frenchie from the Martinez shelter. Phineas, as we're calling him, was brought in as a stray and never claimed. He has massive, awful, horrible ear problems which we're trying to treat with drug therapy before resorting to the painful and difficult operation which can only be done by UC Davis.

How anyone could ever let him suffer from these chronic ear infections fo so long is beyond me. He has so much swelling that it's permanently affected his facial nerves, resulting in his right side being droopy.

He's so grateful to be in a safe, warm place with plenty to eat. He doesn't know what toys are yet, and he's about 75% deaf so we are trying to teach him hand signals.

I don't pander often... but please, if you are willing to click through to even ONE of the Google ads on this site, every penny will go back to FBRN.

If you have a companion animal, please give them an extra hug today. Phineas Frogg thanks you, and so do I!

Oh my God, he is so beautiful. I am so proud of you for being such a good human being. Kiss him for me and I will donate and wish Phineas a speedy recovery.
Ghorbant
ps; How Stella and Sir Bogart are treating him, I wonder!!

How about - if I start making what I made for Stella and Sir Borgart and whatever money you make you can donate to their rescue network. Let me know what you think and I will start knitting!!

Aw man, it tears.
I believe it's been over 2 dozen owners I've run in to over the last 6 years that have had Pit Bulls holed up in garden sheds. We're talking 24 / 7. I've turned them all in to the local authorities, no action. The last one was Eli's Day Care provider, we didn't know. If Eli sees any dog anywhere for any reason, his eyes rollup in his sockets, he drops and starts shaking. He's only comfortable wrapped around my neck. I have no idea what exactly happened, it could have happend with any happy breed, but he's screwed. Remember, I know it's the owners. But the owners in our neighborhood own Pit Bulls.
I don't have a lot, but if you need, let us know. There might be something we could do.

Biggles

I clicked on every Google ad I could find. Kisses to Phineas.

poor baby! i'm clicking away and wishing little mr. frogg a swift recovery!

Dear Fatemeh,
whenever my mum found a homeless cat or dog she just couldn't resist and took it home. The last time it was a undescribable dirty Golden Retriever, whom we put in the bath tub at 1 pm... My biggest respect for what your doing for this poor little cutie! I'm clicking and clicking and ... :)

Consider yourself clicked — all in the name of sweet Phineas and his adorable face. If there is more we can do, I'll be happy to help. I'll also send the link to anyone I know.

Phineas's photo doesn't do him justice. I met him last night and I fell totally in love. He is totally adorable. Too bad Fred won't let me have a dog. Maybe I should get rid of Fred and take on Phineas instead. I bet the dog doesn't turn up his nose at Thai food!

As the daddy of an "unadoptable", let me know if there is anything I can do. It's a pity dogs cant't choose their owners.

Hi everyone -

Thank you so much for your well wishes and kindness.

Finn is doing really well -- he's the most patient dog when it comes to letting me clean and medicate his ears, which I have to do twice a day.

My dogs have started getting used to him, and Bogart is acutely aware of Finn's actions late at night.

Sam & Fred, thank you SO much for your donation on Saturday night -- it will cover the cost of a year's worth of heartworm preventative for this little guy.

FBRN is in the middle of a new "sponsorship" process for our foster dogs, and I'll be sure to post on it when I get more info.

Thank you again to everyone!

Fatemeh,

what a wonderful photo and post to come upon! how wonderful you all are, four legged and two. my life changed inexoribly when I became aware of the d o g 's and the powerful love I could have for them. the first dog who stole my heart swam her fist swim across a river to see me.

kisses and gentle pets to all of you.

F:

I can't tell from your post if you're keeping him permanently or fostering him. In either case, I'm clicking away madly to help you and your little one. My family has two bundles of joy who are both rescues and are the most loving dogs in the world. I'm not surprised he's so gentle and patient with you; I'm sure you and C. are exactly what he's wanted for a long, long time. Phineas is certainly lucky to have found you. Sending lots and lots of good thoughts to Phin and his guardian angels.

I clicked! I clicked! Poor little guy. Best wishes to him.

here is a heartwarming story:

my dad knows a guy up in the pacific northwest who is basically almost a bum. he is dirty and stinky and drinks and works just enough to make ends meet BUT everytime he gets a job (usually digging or fixing fences and the like) he takes some of the money and goes to the local pound, asking to adopt the next few dogs on the euthenasia list. he then tries to find homes for these doggies, keeping the ones that nobody else wants.

it sure makes me mad that people are irresponsible with little animal lives! but it's good to hear about people trying to help.

sniff, sniff....he sure is cute but looks like he might've had one drink too many...

Fatemeh - we got our cat from a shelter and are talking about adopting a retired greyhound too. Clicked all the ads, I really hope Phineas gets better soon... Let us know how he is doing again.

Finn is lucky to have found you.
