Guess Who's Hosting WBW #15?
That's right, yours truly!
The theme? Well, that image up there is your first clue.
Your second clue might be my complete lack of prejudice for a particular varietal, region or style of wine.
Finally, consider my love of the underdog, the little guy, the specialist...
Yes, this month for Wine Blogging Wednesday, we're focusing on small production wines.
Choose any wine, from any region, at any price point... but make sure that no more than 250 cases total were produced.
Post on your blog (or email me if you don't have one) by Wednesday, November 2nd. Send me an email with subject line: WBW #15 by midnight, PST to be included in the round-up.
Bonus points (or, you know, extra warm fuzzies) for entries from producers that have under 1000 cases TOTAL PRODUCTION.
Keep an eye on this space in the next few days, as I'll post a list of some producers & wines that fit the bill, in case you're having a hard time finding one.
Questions? Hit me up here. Otherwise, happy wine hunting!

You're fast, man. Really fast.

that's the first time I've seen an event announced before the previous one is done.
phew that's a quick turn around. I don't think I will take part as I am on 7 day weeks and OT for the rest of October. Pus my internet is broken and because of work pressures I don't have time to fix it :(

ignore my comment.
I am a dullard.
I thought the new new pinot noir was today
and i am so a week behind schedule

Ohh! This is going to be fun. My husband and I are constantly discovering new wineries in Woodinville, WA (the Northwest mecca of small wineries). We usually buy a bottle or two for exactly the reason you described - to support the little guy. Now which one to pick?!

Great Idea! On behalf of all micro-wineries everywhere THANK YOU in advance for the attention!

Can you please translate into number of regular bottles (75cl) or vine surface of production what 250 cases represent? Not sure to imagine that... Thx ;)

Sam, honey, don't worry. I know how long this week's been for you.
Carry, glad you're going to participate. You can certainly write up more than one, if you choose!
Doug, thank you both for stopping by. I think this will be a fun and educational WBW all around.
Wilfried, figure 3,000 bottles. I unfortunately can't tell you much more than that.

I know the perfect wine to write about. It's possible the winery's whole production is less than 250 cases.
I just need to fish it out of storage before or after the NY trip.

I thought, 250 cases were just 3000 bottles (cases of 12?) - but I see, that I'm wrong.
I won't write about my own production (Lisson wine are produced on an even smaller scale - we always say, we're not a garage wine, but a dog shed's...) but look around among my neighbours in the back mountains of Languedoc. It will be fun to participate from the other side of the ocean.
Should it be written in english? - my blog is normally in french, but I could make un ecxeption:-)))

I may be looking in all the wrong shops, but every thing I find that has that bottles is crazy pricey! Pout.

Great Theme! I already know which one I'm going to try.
I don't think we'll be seeing many duplicate wines on this one....
Thanks for hosting!

I have posted and look forward to reading the reviews but have quickly figured out that most likely I will never get to try any of the wines listed due to the micro-production. I have a solution. As in a big family when it is impossible to get presents for all the siblings at Christmas time, each child pulls a name from the hat of another child and gets a present for just that child, I sugest that each blogger pick one other blogger to send a bottle of his/her selected wine. I say hell with the shipping laws and this may be complicated to pass the hat over the internet but this is the second millenium. We should be able to figure this out. Any takers?

Jens, I agree it's going to be hard to find any of the other blogger's wines. I would maybe rather have a few regional gatherings to taste some of the others. I'm near SF...
I've already posted and found a real beaut --and 182 cases made...

OK - so we cheated a little. We didn't find just one wine, rahter we found several, all from Pelican Ranch vineyards located in Santa Cruz California. Our favorite? 2004 Viognier, Russian River Valley $25.00 46 cases produced. Check it out! (Oh yeah, they also produce less than 1000 cases/year)
