My Delivery Woes
I love living in Oakland. I really do. Places like Old Oakland's Ratto's and Caffe 817, La Farine, Heinold's, Hangar One and Luka's make living here a joy. And, I probably get 25% more space for my mortgage dollar than I would in the city. Add to that the fact that I'm 6 minutes to BART and 6 minutes to the Ferry (I actually get to the city faster than my friends in the Richmond or Sunset), and I wouldn't live anywhere else in the Bay Area.
That said...
DELIVERY OPTIONS IN OAKLAND SUCK!
C and I spent 35 minutes calling one restaurant after another trying to find delivery that isn't gross. In that amount of time, I could have MADE dinner. I mean, seriously, not even Round Table or Pizza Hut delivers to Jack London Square.
At the end of the ninth fruitless phone call, I finally said, "f*ck it, I'm cooking".
Anyone have any good tips for Oakland delivery? PLEASE?

Might that have been a Freudian slip? Who knows. Thanks for catching that, Ann!

I feel your pain. It's a sad state when even Round Table will not deliver to you. I live in the Lake Merritt area and it's tough to find delivery there, too, except for a few so-so Chinese places. Sigh. I'd love to hear suggestions as well.

Yeah, well we're a step or 9 right behind you. Richmond's delivery situation is even worse. The pizza situation give us Straw Hat as our BEST BET. The Asian food literally will make you sick, on each occasion. Grrrr.

It's not the most cost-effective method (as there is a minimum $15 charge, then a delivery charge, then a tip for the driver), but EZDineInn.com delivers from many local restaurants to Berkeley, Oakland, Albany, Richmond, etc. etc. They're not the best service I've ever used (the website sucks, and they're often late), but they're pretty much all there is when I need something that is not pizza delivered--Berkeley's delivery options are pretty slim, too.

I live in Downtown Oakland, and I must say that that's one downside to living in Oakland. The one place that we have found that will deliver pizza is Pizza Love that is located in the Gateway center over on 7th street. It's decent and they usually deliver fairly quickly.
