Sometimes, when you've been traveling, and your time clock is totally out of whack, the only thing that sounds good for dinner is, well... breakfast.
This evening, we had a benefit for the NoCal French Bulldog Club, but C's flight came in late, and all we wanted to do when we got home was turn up the heat, cuddle with the dogs, and eat something comforting.
After hemming and hawing, digging through the freezer and pantry... I opened the "meat" drawer, knowing full well it was empty, and lo and behold, I found some turkey-maple breakfast sausages. I proclaimed, "I have it! Let's have breakfast!" C threw his arms around me and said, "I KNEW there was a good reason I love you so much!"
I baked some quick biscuits while C took charge of the eggs and sausage. Eggs we scrambled with some onion cheddar cheese, worcestershire and a spash of whole milk. Sausages cooked in our Le Creuset Grillet pan (I love this thing), and biscuits went into the oven for 10 minutes.
Served with a bottle of Chardonnay, fresh butter, Bonne Maman jelly and a lightly dressed peppercress salad, this was the perfect comfort meal to end a long, cold week.
