The Frenchies have been particularly photogenic this past week, so I couldn't help but take part in a bit of non-food-related canine bloggery.
This is what happens when Stella the Bull decides you're played on the idiot box (aka the Laptop) quite long enough. She literally sat on C's laptop and proceeded to watch television over the top until he closed it and put it away.
And this is what an afternoon nap with Bogart looks like. Not the most flattering photo of me, but who cares when you have the love of a Bo?
Certainly, it would be terribly unfair of me not to share this wonderful phot of Bo's dental beauty. This, you see, is what happens when you put the right number of teeth in a wrong-sized mouth. Seriously, where's a dog gonna put all those teeth when he doesn't have a snout???

And to keep it somewhat Gastronomie-related, the wine back there on the right is Ravenswood's Rancho Salina Bordeaux-style blend. We have lots of fun comparing and contrasting this wine with the wine that Mr. G makes every year from Rancho Salina grapes.

We're in the home stretch of the Menu for Hope II Fundraiser. We've raised a mind-blowing $15,316.32 as of 3:11pm, PST.
That means the raffle closes in LESS THAN 6 hours from this very moment.
But, see, here's the thing. We food bloggers are an overachieving bunch. So, with that in mind... whoever donates the LARGEST sum in aggregate (it can be in multiple "gift" donations, or one single large donation) from now until the close of the raffle, will get themselves one of these containers of saffron. And, if the total $ amount exceeds $100, I'll also include a copy of my favorite Persian cookbook.
So, come on folks... let's do this. Let's bring this thing home like champs, shall we?

On October 8th, 2005, a devastating earthquake ravaged the Northern region of Pakistan, leaving over 70,000 people dead, and another 100,000 injured.
This says nothing of the 3 million people people whose villages were utterly decimated, and livelihoods destroyed. Now, two months later, the casualties are set to rise again -- exposure and starvation as a result of the bitter cold of winter are challenging the relief efforts and threatening to kill countless more people.
And so it is that the Food Blogging Community brings you a Menu For Hope. All the money we raise will benefit Unicef, and earmarked specifically for the earthquake region.

First off, I have to thank everyone who participated in this month's Wine Blogging Wednesday. It was a very challenging theme, I know, and I am fully impressed that 29 of you found a bottle that qualified.
Even more impressive, more than a handful of you scored "Bonus Points" for selecting a wine from a winery with fewer than 1,000 cases annual production. Bravo!
Before I start the wrap-up, I just want to mention that Jens suggested a wine-swap between the participants. Corkdork thought regional tastings might be more manageable. If you're interested in either of these options, let me know, and I'll hook you up with others who express interest.
